# The Cure — Root Cause Resolution

*The isolation that made me, and the plan I built to cure myself when the system gave up. Not management. Not symptom control. Resolution.*

## First: the alone

People ask why I'm so comfortable alone. Why I don't reach out. Why I don't seem to need anyone. Let me tell you the whole truth of it, because it's not a flex and it's not a cry for help — it's just what the system made.

I was left. Over and over. Nine foster homes before I was old enough for kindergarten. Pulled from homes I thought were mine — one day a room and a birthday party, the next day a caseworker with a clipboard telling me to pack. Separated from Thomas for his own good. Separated from an adoptive family to save my own life. Left in a corner while the adults were busy being adults. Left to my own in my bedroom — the only place nobody could corner me, forget me, or give me a reason to cry.

Eventually — and this is the part that sounds sad but isn't, not anymore — **I started enjoying it.** The being alone. Actually appreciating it.

It's weird. I know it's weird. But here's the thing: when every human connection you've ever had has been a door that eventually closes, you stop leaning on doors. You stop expecting the person in the room to stay. And then one day you realize the room isn't empty — it's *yours*. Nobody can leave it. Nobody can take it. The quiet stops being loneliness and becomes *privacy*. The solitude stops being punishment and becomes *peace*.

So now people are just... there. Others are just there. Okay cool. There are a few I genuinely care about — a very few, and they know who they are, and they're the ones who stayed when staying was hard. But everyone else? **They could disappear and I wouldn't care.** Lol. I mean that literally. I've watched people walk out of my life my whole life — family, friends, doctors, employers, whole institutions — and I've learned that the ones who leave were never going to stay anyway. So why would I spend the energy caring about people who are just... passing through?

I hate crowds now. The noise, the bodies, the *expectation* of social performance — all of it. I hate people in general, if I'm honest. Even the ones I love. Because loving people is the thing that's hurt me the most, and I've never been good at doing it in moderation. So I keep the few, I tolerate the many, and I treasure the alone. The alone is the only relationship that has never once left me.

That's not a tragedy. That's a *survival adaptation* — the same way a scar is. It's what's left after being left enough times to learn the shape of it. And it's the foundation everything below was built on: when the system abandoned me, I was already an expert at being alone. So I did what I'd always done. I fixed it myself.

## The 19 diagnoses

Let me lay out the full list, because "my conditions" isn't a vibe, it's a spreadsheet. From my chart, from multiple evaluations, on the record:

**The psychiatric stack:**
- Bipolar 1 disorder
- Schizoaffective disorder
- Borderline personality disorder
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Generalized anxiety disorder
- Social anxiety disorder
- PTSD (complex, chronic)
- Depression
- Psychomotor deficit
- Insomnia

**The physical stack:**
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Inflammatory arthritis / rheumatoid factor positive
- ANA+ / autoimmune activation
- Obesity
- Prediabetes
- Hypertension
- Edema
- Chronic fatigue
- Gender dysphoria

Nineteen conditions. Nineteen labels. Nineteen separate problems, according to nineteen separate specialists, each one treating their own slice and billing their own code.

**That was the lie I was handed my whole life: nineteen separate battles I'd never win.**

---

## The central insight

Here's the thing the system never once told me, the thing I had to dig out of 7,072 research papers, 18,272 OMIM entries, and 40,542 of my own Discord messages to find:

**Nineteen conditions are NOT nineteen separate problems.**

They are **four root causes expressing themselves differently in different parts of my body.** Same fire, nineteen different rooms. Fix the four roots, and the nineteen symptoms resolve — not managed, not suppressed, *resolved*.

**ROOT CAUSE 1: SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATION** — drives 12 of the 19.

| Condition | How it expresses this root |
|---|---|
| Ankylosing Spondylitis | Inflammation in spine joints |
| Inflammatory Arthritis | Inflammation in peripheral joints |
| ANA+ / Autoimmune | Immune system in attack mode |
| Obesity | Fat tissue = inflammatory organ |
| Prediabetes | Inflammation → insulin resistance |
| Hypertension | Inflammation → vascular stiffness |
| Edema | Inflammation → capillary leakage |
| Bipolar depression | Neuroinflammation → mood centers |
| PTSD | Inflammation → HPA axis |
| Anxiety | Inflammation → threat response |
| Insomnia | Inflammation → sleep disruption |
| Fatigue | Inflammation → sickness behavior |

**ROOT CAUSE 2: MITOCHONDRIAL DYSFUNCTION** — the power plants are damaged, so everything slows down: fatigue, obesity, depression, insomnia.

**ROOT CAUSE 3: NEUROTRANSMITTER / CALCIUM CHANNEL DYSREGULATION** — my OMIM genetics show DISC1, CACNA1C, HTR2A, TPH2, NRXN1, CNTNAP2, COMT. All brain-related genes. Bipolar lives in the calcium channel (CACNA1C); schizoaffective lives in glutamate (DISC1); autism lives in synaptic pruning. **This is why lamotrigine works** — it targets the calcium channel. This is why NAC works — it modulates glutamate. They were never random meds. They were the two that hit the actual mechanism.

**ROOT CAUSE 4: HORMONAL IMBALANCE + STRESS SYSTEM DYSREGULATION** — gender dysphoria (sex hormone mismatch), PTSD (FKBP5 gene, broken HPA axis), obesity (cortisol → fat storage), hypertension (stress → vascular pressure).

## The cure — how it works

**Phase 1 — Foundation (Month 1):** NAC 600mg 2x daily, Omega-3, Magnesium at bedtime (~$20/month at Walmart), low-starch diet trial, morning sunlight, same bedtime every night, heating pad, compression stockings. Goal: drop baseline inflammation, see what diet does to the AS.

**Phase 2 — Deepening (Months 2-3):** red light therapy (660nm + 850nm — directly stimulates mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase, more ATP), CoQ10, zone 2 exercise (walking — NOT high intensity, which stresses damaged mitochondria), daily vagus nerve stimulation (cold water, humming, slow breathing — free, zero cost). Goal: fix mitochondria, identify food triggers.

**Phase 3 — Resolution (Months 3-6):** ketogenic diet for bipolar if needed (ketones are anticonvulsant — beta-hydroxybutyrate inhibits histone deacetylases, the same mechanism as valproate; the closest thing to a cure for bipolar that exists outside medication), biologics for AS if still active, EMDR for PTSD, sleep study for apnea.

**Phase 4 — Maintenance (6+ months):** keep what works, drop what doesn't, retest labs.

**The 80/20 rule:** NAC + Omega-3 + Magnesium + low-starch diet + red light + meds as prescribed + same bedtime + vagus nerve stimulation = **60-80% of symptoms resolved** for ~$20/month and one $150-300 one-time purchase.

I didn't invent this. I *found* it — in the literature, in my own genetics, in my own 40,542 messages of symptom-tracking that the doctors never read. The system had nineteen specialists and nineteen codes and nineteen prescriptions. I had one question: *what do all nineteen have in common?* Nobody else asked it. So I answered it myself.

## The risks — read this part

The document I built from has a section the doctors never wrote, because it's about *me* and not my chart. It's the part that makes this a cure and not a suicide note:

**I have two prior overdose attempts (2025). This changes the calculus of everything.**

- No aggressive fasting or keto without medical supervision — electrolyte shifts can affect mood
- No keeping large quantities of any medication accessible
- No treatments that cause extreme mood shifts (SAMe, high-dose stimulants, unregulated psychedelics)
- A safety plan before starting anything new
- Someone I trust who knows what I'm trying
- 988 if things get dark

The goal is not just "cure the diseases." **The goal is me being alive and healthy enough to enjoy the result.** Any protocol that risks the patient is not a cure — it's a repeat of what the system did to me. I built that guardrail in on purpose.

---

## The background checks

How do I know any of this is real and not just another label-shaped trap? Because I *checked*.

- **The genetics:** my OMIM data — DISC1, CACNA1C, HTR2A, TPH2, NRXN1, CNTNAP2, COMT — cross-referenced against what each gene is actually known to do
- **The pathways:** KEGG and Reactome — the actual biochemistry, not the marketing
- **The drugs:** FDA, SIDER, PharmGKB — what the meds actually hit, side effects and all
- **The literature:** 7,072 papers — not abstracts, not headlines, the studies
- **The symptoms:** 40,542 of my own messages — my actual lived experience, tracked by me, read by me, because nobody else would
- **The environment:** mold testing (ERMI), food reintroduction, one variable at a time — so I know *what* changed when something changes

That's the same standard I hold everything in my life to now. You want to know if someone's worth trusting? Check the background. You want to know if a treatment is real? Check the mechanism, the evidence, and the failure mode — then test it on yourself, one variable at a time. I background-checked my own cure the way you'd background-check a person who wants access to your life. And this one passed — because it had to. It's the only one that was ever for *me*.

## The summary

**4 root causes → 19 conditions → 1 plan.**

- Inflammation → low-starch diet + AIP
- Mitochondria → red light + zone 2 + CoQ10
- Brain wiring → NAC + lamotrigine + vagus
- Hormones/stress → optimized HRT + EMDR

Cost: ~$25-35/month. One-time: red light panel ($150-300). Timeline to major change: 2-3 months. Timeline to full resolution: 6-12 months. The same system that spent twenty years drugging me into a fog and telling me to figure it out — I figured it out. Not with their help. In spite of them.

"This isn't 19 separate battles. It's one war with 4 fronts. Win the inflammation front, and the other three get easier."

I wrote that. I believe it. And I'm the one who gets to find out if it's true — because it's my life, my choices, my consequences, and the world can kindly fuck itself if it thinks I'm going to wait for permission. ❤️
